Richelmi at Zolder with the Blancpain Sprint Series
The weekend is over in Zolder and the least we can say is that it was full of downs and few highs.
After having some technical issues in Free Practice, the #3 Audi driven for the 1st time in Q3 by ‘our’ Stef, did qualify at a strong P4, 2nd best Audi.
The qualifying race was then unfortunately short with only one lap completed due to an impact at the rear of Stef’s car at the start, which pushed him directly toward the #4 R8, both had to retire.
In the Main Race, started from the back of the field, the aim was to push to get the best result possible. After a strong stint from Stephane Ortelli and a great pit strategy, Stef was fighting to finish just behind the P6 car, with the second best laptime of the race.
Unfortunately after the race, they got handed a really unfair drive-through penalty for a contact at the start that pushed them down to the 10th place.
« It was a tough weekend. It’s hard not to be disappointed after what happened, especially with the pace we had all week-end. Now let’s focus on the next race where we’ll try to get everything right. »
Next race in two weeks in the sunny environment of Le Castellet which we can consider as Stef’s home race !
