Last race at Zandvoort for Stéphane Richelmi with Blancpain Sprint Series 2015
The 2015 Blancpain Series championship is now over after this last meeting in Zandvoort. After good Free Practices the Qualifying didn’t go well, Steph Ortelli had some traffic issues in the 2 Push laps in Q2 that forbid the #3 Audi to go to Q3. Starting from the ninth place on the grid in the Quali Race, both drivers worked well to finish P5. A strong result and a lot of promises for the Main Race. Sadly on Sunday, after a great start form Stef that put him P3 in the turn one, a Full Course Yellow flag went a bit messy and Stef wend down to fifth position. After this moment the car spent all the rest of the race frustrated behind a slower car.
Stéphane Richelmi:
« It is a frustrating weekend for us, because we wanted to finish the season like we started it, on the podium. And we were there in the Main Race, even after our deceiving quali. We were under FCY but the race direction put the track green not the way we usually do and some cars went back racing while we were still at 80km/h. Then we’re blocked behind a car that « managed well » the FCY restart but that was just too slow to be at the front. It’s too bad because the pace was good. I want to thank the mechanics and the team W Racing Team for the great car again this weekend and for their help all season long. And a special thanks for my mate Stephane for all his work and motivation.
